PowerSchool Harnesses Roanoke's Workforce Potential
PowerSchool, the leading provider of cloud-based K-12 education software in the United States, first came to Roanoke in 2015 by acquiring local education technology startup Interactive Achievement. Company leadership quickly took notice of the area workforce’s potential, announcing an expansion two years later. An already strong workforce was bolstered by funding and services from VEDP’s Virginia Jobs Investment Program (VJIP), which provides consultative services and funding to companies creating new jobs or experiencing technological change in order to support employee training activities. PowerSchool also took advantage of VEDP’s Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) Program, designed to help companies establish an export program or increase exports through resources and professional services from expert private-sector partners.
